Welcome to our ninth “Letter from the CEO”, a letter directly from our CEO Sierra. Once a month, this letter will include behind-the-scenes of UP Cycle Design and share exciting updates so you’re the first to know. Today's letter features a design launch supporting Turkey's earthquake relief efforts, introducing a new team member, and a announcing a break from our newsletter in March!
Turkey Relief Design
In response to the Turkey/Syria Earthquakes, our team came together and created a design to support the relief efforts. Our previous team member Öykü lives in Turkey, so we immediately knew we wanted to support however we could! We changed our Ukraine design to represent the flag colors of Turkey and our plan is to continue to modify that design whenever a country needs extra support after disaster! We donate $5 from each Turkey Relief Design product to the World Central Kitchen (WCK), a nonprofit that has served almost one million meals to Turkey and Syrian refugees as they try to survive and rebuild after the devasting earthquakes that have taken thousands of lives and destroyed so many others. WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. They build resilient food systems with locally led solutions, and UP Cycle Design is proud to support their mission.
New Team Member Spotlight: Iveena
We are so excited to introduce our newest team member to the UP Cycle Design fam: Iveena Mukherjee! Iveena is our new Internal Impact Coordinator, and has been doing a great job in her first few weeks creating a new employee handbook to help with onboarding new team members! Iveena is a junior at the Charter School of Wilmington. She loves to explore new places, and enjoys spending time in nature with her friends and family! Please join us in welcoming Iveena to the UP Cycle family! 🥳
Our Newsletter is Taking A Break In March!
Inspired by our friends at the Bloom newsletter, our newsletter will be taking a break in March, so we will not be sending out a newsletter on Friday, March 10th in order to focus on self-care. We will resume our normal every other week schedule starting Friday, March 24th! See you then, UP Cycle Design family!
