Letter from the CEO 10.21.22

By Sierra RyanWallick

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our third “Letter from the CEO”, a letter directly from Sierra (that’s me!). Every other week, this letter will include behind-the-scenes of UP Cycle Design and share exciting updates so you’re the first to know. Today's letter features an exciting award, attending the 17&43 awards ceremony, and a new product!

Products

We have officially launched our first Wall Art with a wolf design! This design supports the Yellowstone Wolf Project with $10 from each Wall Art donated to support the international acclaimed project that oversees research and monitoring of wolves in Yellowstone. This work serves the park’s mission to understand and preserve native species and ecological processes, and informs wolf conservation efforts worldwide. Each wolf is approximately 4.5 x 6 inches and is sent with a wall safe command strip backing that can be applied to the walls in your home, office, or anywhere you want to have some cool Wall Art! Click here or on the photo below to check out the product!

Awards

On Tuesday, October 18th, UP Cycle Design was awarded a 17&43 Award! This is a bucket list item for me, and I'm so excited that our team made it this year! Recipients were selected based on revenue, growth, innovation and social impact, so it is quite an honor to have been chosen! Only two attendees were allowed to attend (tickets were $150!), so we held a lottery and our team members Kevin Wallick and Hayley Penn were chosen to attend and represent UP Cycle Design!

Professional Development Curriculum

We are three weeks into our pilot professional development curriculum with our team this week in partnership with Margaret O'Dwyer from DYLN (Delaware Youth Leadership Network)! Our first topic ("Intro to Resumes and Hacking Your Opportunity Fit") goes through the end of October, so we are nearing the end of our first topic and will be focused on LinkedIn next.

Connections

On Monday, I met with Ari Weindling (the Founder of PatcheddUpp) and my professor Stephanie Raible facilitated the connection! It was awesome connecting with Ari because she sells personalized patches on clothing and products full time and there was so much cross-over between what we're trying to do! A great connection for UP Cycle and possible ways we can partner in the future as well! If you know anyone we should connect with, please let us know!

Marketing

Our marketing team is currently focused on increasing engagement on our social media channels. We would love if you could take 5 minutes of your time and engage with our posts and stories right now! This helps us reach more people and be shown to a broader audience. If you haven’t already, please follow us on IG here.

Support

We are currently looking to add two new team members to our UP Cycle Design family! If you know anyone who would be interested in either of the two following rolls, please pass along our email to them (up.cycle.sustainability@gmail.com): 1. Internal Impact Coordinator & 2. Sales Captain. To the left, we have a flyer for the Internal Impact Coordinator position with a position description QR code that you can share. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out! Preference given to UD students or those in the Newark, DE area. Thank you for your help in sharing this opportunity!

Thank you so much for being on this exciting journey with us, and we can’t wait to share what’s next!
