Letter from the CEO 10.7.22

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our second “Letter from the CEO,” a letter directly from Sierra (that’s me!). Every other week, this letter will include behind-the-scenes of UP Cycle Design and share exciting updates so you’re the first to know. Today's letter features a team member farewell, a new product launch, and an event recap!

Vendors

We are in the midst of onboarding new vendors, and we want to know if YOU or anyone you know make upcycled/recycled/sustainable products that would be a good fit for our website! We are always looking for more vendors to add to our incredible family of vendors, and if you or someone you know would be interested in joining, shoot us an email at up.cycle.sustainability@gmail.com for more information!

Team

It is bittersweet to announce that one of our team members Max Sewell is moving on from the UP Cycle Design team. He has been with our team for about two years, and we are going to miss him so much! Max, thank you for helping us with research, our newsletter, our blog, events, and so much more! We are grateful for your time here with our team and are excited to see where you go in the future!

Events

On Saturday, September 24th, we had some of our items at my nonprofit AutumnLeaf Fundraisers' booth at Woodside Creamery's Fall Arts & Crafts Fest! Our bestselling stickers were our manatee and yin yang designs and our bestselling product was our new kitty kick sticks (coming soon to the website)!

Milestones

We passed a milestone of 1,500 community members on Instagram! We are well on our way of reaching 5,000 community members by the end of the year. Thank you so much to everyone for your support!

Professional Development Curriculum

We officially started our pilot professional development curriculum with our team this week in partnership with DYLN (Delaware Youth Leadership Network)! Our first topic is "Intro to Resumes and Hacking Your Opportunity Fit". We are excited to be working with Margaret O'Dwyer on this partnership, and it's been an exciting start so far this week! Shoutout to April (our Internal Impact Coordinator) for leading this project and doing such an amazing job!

Marketing

This week, we submitted a project proposal to the Blue Hen Leadership Program for a team of their students to help us with our marketing strategy (specifically with converting community members to consumers), so stay tuned for more updates with this project later this year! If you haven’t already, please follow us on IG here.

Support

We would love feedback on this letter's format, and if there's any other updates or topics that you want us to touch on in each letter (or maybe periodically share!). You can respond to our email that you found this newsletter in (if you're on our email list) or comment your thoughts below on this blog!

Thank you so much for being on this exciting journey with us, and we can’t wait to share what’s next!
